7 Hills Of Rome

     The seven hills of Rome are Esquiline, Palatine, Aventine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, and Caelian Hill. Before the Founding of Rome these hills all had there own small piece of settlement. On the Esquiline hill the 'golden house' was built upon it by the Roman emperor Nero. The Colossus, Temple of Claudius, and Baths of Trajan were all located on the Esquiline. The Palatine hill is the central hill of the seven hills in Rome joined with the Esquiline and Veila. Also was the first of the seven hills to become settled and the hill that Romulus decided to live on. Augustus, the Temple of Apollo,Temples of Victory, and the great mother were on this hill. The Aventine hill was the hill Remus decided to live on according to legends. The Aventine hill was the home of the plebeians and home to the temples of Diana,Ceres, and Libera. The Capitoline hill is the smallest hill out of them all and was the campus of Martius. This hill contained the assassins of Caesar that locked themselves in the temple of Capitoline Jupiter. The Quarinal hill is the most northerly hill out of the seven. The second king of Rome lived on this hill, Numa. Cicero's friend lived on this hill also. Viminal hill is a more unimportant compared to the other hills with less monuments on it. The Viminal hill had the Carcallas temple of serapis on it. To the northeast of the Viminal the Thermae Diocletiani,Baths of Diocletian who's ruins were used for constructing buildings such as churches.
